$100 laptop production begins

A low-cost laptop, designed for children in developing countries, finally goes into mass production report the BBC
Intel have joined in the consortium - until quite recently they were producing the "Classmate" PC as a rival - possibly without the altruistic intent of the $100 laptop scheme.

Which methods and techniques using new technologies are of real use?
