'New and extraordinary insights' at ELESIG
Rhonas Sharpe has made a couple of posts about ELESIG (one of the academic networks I manage the online space for) on her blog. She asked members what benefit they found from the experience of being a member of the community, and got some great answers:From Esyin Chew's "I have experienced something new and extraordinary insights that have challenged my preconceptions about digital literacy and learners' experience through ELESIG.”
to Jana Dlouha's "ELESIG is the working group with great potential for changes in higher (and other) education system as it works with learners' perspective - this is not as usual as it should be! Access to this research (and meta-research, researching the ways of research itself) is available through ELESIG work - often providing free methodological and other resources."
I'm pleased too that Amanda Jefferies was able to say that "The online NING network for ELESIG has been an excellent way to keep in touch 'virtually' with other researchers into the Student Experience and to be inspired by examples of innovative practice. "

Stay with Blogger or move to Wordpress?
I've been really busy, lately.
Reach Further have moved offices. We can now be found at
Reach Further Ltd.
Round Foundry Media Centre
Foundry Street
Leeds
LS11 5QP
I've also revamped the website and finally set up a decent Wordpress blog. I'm liking Wordpress, and it's maybe time I moved this blog over to it - or should I stay with Blogger? There are obviously advantages to both. Happy to hear others' opinions.
And one of the main reasons I dislike Blogger at the moment is the way it autocompletes my tags and there doesn't seem any way to stop it without carefully editing everything. Anyone else find it annoying?

Setting up an e-learning consultancy
It's been an exciting week, as I am changing jobs. Instead of mostly being at University of Leicester with a little bit of consultancy, I will now be mostly working as a consultant with Reach Further Ltd., headquartered in Leeds, and spend less time working for Leicester, as the Adelie project comes to an end. Reach Further has some exciting projects planned, and of course there are opportunities to pitch for new projects and look out for new partnerships.
I'm really pleased that my association with University of Leicester and the Beyond Distance Research Alliance will continue. There are so many exciting projects going on here too and I can continue some of the work I've started.
